The cricket match the staff in Ian Carmichael's office are listening to must either be test 458 (the last time to that date where a Miller was caught by an Evans was in the England v New Zealand test match at the Oval in August 1958) or test 426 (Keith Miller was caught by Gubby Evans in the England v Australia test match at Lords in June 1956). Judging by the roar of the crowd it was probably the latter match, though ball-by-ball commentary was not broadcast on the BBC until 1957. This would therefore date the action as having taken place in either 1956 or 1958, but not in 1959 (the year that this film was made) when the Indian national cricket team was touring England.
