The longest running sitcom to feature a predominantly African-American cast. FACT CHECK : Actually that would be Fat Albert, which had an all-black cast and ran from '73 to '85, 12 years; to the Jeffersons ten. (Jeffersons was '75 to '85). And actually whereas Jeffersons was spun off from the 1971 sitcom All in the Family, Fat Albert had it's tv pilot back in '69; and can even be traced back to Cosby's comedy routines from the early '60s, so it's older and longer in every regard. Jeffersons would be the longest running live action show starring African Americans. These are both sitcoms: the longest running black show in any genre would be Soul Train which started in '71 and ended in 2006; running for an astounding 39 seasons.
