Director Renny Harlin and actor Sylvester Stallone were in good terms during filming. Stallone even invited Harlin to his family's Thanksgiving dinner. Based on Harlin, this changed after the film was edited. Stallone felt his role was too small and the marketing plan too focused on the younger actor Kip Pardue. This argument ultimately cost their friendship.
