Kenny (Sean Delaney) and Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) were not originally scripted to be mother and son. It was only three weeks into shooting when Sandra Oh (Eve) saw a similarity between the two characters. This inspired Phoebe Waller-Bridge to make both characters related.
