While production of the fifth season took place, the producers suspected that the Sci Fi Channel had lost interest in the show, because they didn't receive any corrective notes for the scripts. Because of that, writer and executive producer Bill Dial decided to test the channel's rule that no gun should be pointed at a character's head. He submitted a script that featured a character getting his head shot off. It was ignored.
