In season two, Linda Blair guest-starred as a detective investigating the brothers. At the end of the episode, she said, "I need you two out there doing what you do best. I know I'll sleep better at night." This is clearly a nod to her role as Regan in L'esorcista (1973), as she was possessed by a demon. As the brothers walk away Dean says, "Does she look familiar to you?" Then he exclaims that he is craving pea soup, which was what Blair projectile-vomited in The Exorcist (1973).
