The alleged existence of the "Lost Spider Pit" sequence, is one of the most strongly debated topics in classic movie history. Ranging from the scene where Kong, after shaking the sailors from a huge tree branch, they fall and are eaten alive by giant spiders and other reptilian like monsters. One side says that it was shown at a preview screening, but frightened the audience too badly, and according to the director, "stopped the picture cold" so he removed it. The other side of the debate is that still-prints of the sequence were actually made, but never shot for the film. The true fate of this scene's existence remains unknown.
