For Season 3, the show had planned to bring Tim Drake into the show as the 3rd Robin. In August 2020 a casting call revealed that WB was looking for a South-East Asian actor to portray Tim Drake/Robin who is Caucasian in the DC comic book source material that the show is based on. However, in October 2020 is was reported the show was instead planning to cast an African-American actor in the role of Tim Drake as a response to the Black Lives Matter movement which has gained new momentum since production on Titans had been on hiatus. African American actor Jay Lycurgo was chosen to portray Tim Drake/Robin. Lycurgo will also be appearing in The Batman (2022) in an unspecified role.
