Two season's story arcs had been implemented as a result of Daniela Ruah's pregnancies and need for less screentime. In the second half of Season 5, while she was pregnant with her first child, Kensi was given a secret assignment in Afghanistan. In the first half of Season 8, she was injured while on a mission in Syria, leading the character into a coma.
