During the final season, Lt. Cmdr. Quinton McHale (Ernest Borgnine) and his crew, along with Capt. Wallace B. Binghamton (Joe Flynn) and Lt. Elroy Carpenter (Bob Hastings), were shipped from the Pacific theater of operations to the European theater. In reality, transfers of this nature rarely, if ever, occurred.
