Superboy's origin and costume draws heavily from how he was depicted in the Teen Titans volume 3 comics that were written by executive producer Geoff Johns and drawn by artist Mike McKone. Johns added to Superboy's post-crisis origin where not only was he a clone of Superman, but that of Lex Luthor as well. Also when he is wearing clothes, Superboy is wearing the iconic black t-shirt and jeans look McKone gave him starting in the third volume of the Teen Titans comic.
