In 1988, Canadian discount retail chain Zellers produced a series of animated commercials featuring Batman and Robin taking on several of their foes in the Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, and the Riddler. Animated by Lightbox Studios in Toronto, the same studio was used to produce the test footage for the Batman animated series as Lightbox animator Ty Templeton went on to play a prominent role in the animated series' legacy.
