Plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey is the second longest serving crew member of This Old House, joining the show in the second season. Originally his father, Ron Trethewey, served as the show's plumber, however Ron disliked being in front of the camera and asked Richard to take over the job. In recent years Richard's own sons, Evan and Ross, have made appearances on the show.
