It was originally planned for this film to have two direct sequels, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 respectively, but Sony opted for a reboot alongside Marvel Studios instead, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man interacting with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, etc.
