The series takes place in a fictional Wyoming county, but is filmed in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA and Las Vegas, New Mexico, USA. The sheriff's office is on the plaza at 1811 Hot Springs Boulevard, Las Vegas, New Mexico, just across the plaza from 230 Plaza Street, historic and famous The Plaza Hotel, Las Vegas, New Mexico. Many scenes are also filmed in the town of Pecos, New Mexico, in the Pecos Wilderness north of the town of Pecos, and with some scenes filmed in a Espanola, New Mexico casino.
