Notably, out of all of Ash's long-term travelling companions, Misty is the only one to date who left him out of necessity rather than choice. All of Ash's other friends left him because they wanted to continue their journeys somewhere other than where Ash was going next, but even with her bike restored, Misty may have continued travelling with Ash if her sisters' departure had not required her to return to the Cerulean Gym.
