Unlike Amanda Pilke, Laura Birn said she didn't have a bad experience of working with Aku Louhimies. "At the time I accepted the role in 'Vuosaari', I had heard stories from my classmate Pamela Tola from the Theatre Academy about the filming of Paha maa (2005). Still, I decided to take the role," Birn said. "I had read the script for the Vuosaari film. There are some things in it, in terms of the image of women, that I don't subscribe to," Birn admitted. "I thought this was an opportunity to do a great and different role, but there could be terrible side effects. You have to be mentally prepared. It's about the bigger structure and the opportunities that female actors have had. If you're offered a role, you're willing to take all kinds of dirt on the side."
