The young woman who, as Fred's maid, gives Scrooge silent encouragement to enter the parlor, is Teresa Derrington. Alastair Sim was not as encouraging to her. She stated that during filming he asked sneeringly, "Is this your first film?" She replied, "No, it's my second!" She retired from acting after this film and became an art teacher.
