The first ever Dalek story "The Daleks" and the Tom Baker era "Genesis of the Daleks", both written by Terry Nation, have similarities with Terminator (1984). In "The Daleks", the Dalek planet Skaro has been devastated by a neutron war between the Daleks and the Thals. The Daleks rule Skaro within their city, whilst the Thals live in the radioactive jungle, fighting to survive. In "Genesis of the Daleks", the Time Lords send The Fourth Doctor, Sarah and Harry back through time to Skaro before the neutron war, when the evil Kaled scientist Davros first created the Daleks, and the Doctor sets out on his mission to prevent the Dalek's creation. Some fans like to speculate that James Cameron could have been influenced by Doctor Who, but this is actually highly unlikely and it's probable that Cameron had never even seen Doctor Who. These are really common science fiction story themes going back a long way.
