It can be argued that Raj's parents' marriage began to deteriorate in the episode The Big Bang Theory: The Wiggly Finger Catalyst (2011), when Raj's father makes him choose between love and money, and Raj chooses love, and his father says "You're an idiot!! Love doesn't last!" Then his mother gives him a very evil glare. Before that every conversation he had with them over video chat, they were very happy, but every video chat after that, they're very passive aggressive each other, until they eventually get divorced.
