For most of the film, Miguel wears a tank top and sweatshirt, symbolizing his immaturity and initial callowness. Bit by bit, he learns the difference between fame and genuine affection, as well as the importance of family. Near the end of the film - after he becomes a big brother to his infant sister Coco - he wears a button-up dress shirt, mirroring his change of heart.
