Three of this show's main cast members have died at exceptionally young ages and under unusual circumstances. Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) died in 2013 at the age of 31 of an apparently accidental mixed drug (heroin and alcohol) overdose. In 2018, Mark Salling (Noah 'Puck' Puckerman) committed suicide at 35 before he could be sentenced for possession of child pornography, a charge to which he had already pleaded guilty. In 2020, at 33, Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez) accidentally drowned in Lake Piru, a reservoir in California's Los Padres National Forest, while on a boating outing with her four-year-old son (who survived when she was able to put him back into the boat).
