Week-end di terrore (1982) was originally supposed to center around L'assassino ti siede accanto (1981)'s survivor Ginny (Amy Steel), set at a mental institution to which she'd been committed due to emotional trauma. However, Steel declined to return so the concept was shelved. 'Part III's' screenwriter, Martin Kitrosser, had fleshed out the ideas such as Jason surviving and being the lead character as well as some setting where troubled teenagers might be) into a written story treatment, which was dusted off and used for 'A New Beginning's' basic story while Danny Steinmann and David Cohen penned the script.
