In the extnded edition, the dungeon keeper in Dol Guldur drags Gandalf to an execution block to cut off his hand and take Narya, the ring of fire. The camera angle and the knife he tries to use are reminiscent of the scene in Game of Thrones where Locke cuts off Jaime Lannister's hand.
