The portion of the film that occurs during the Civil War was filmed in a very old, secluded house in Dalton Ga., about 40 minutes North of Atlanta. That house had been used as a headquarters and field hospital for General Sherman and his troops before they marched into Atlanta and set fire to the city. Much of the filming there occurred at night and crew members experienced several disturbing occurrences.
