Amy Heckerling recalls that one of the film's producers wanted "Raised on the Radio" by the Ravyns as the opening title track because it was going to be "a big hit song." The filmmaker went with her preferred choice instead, "We Got the Beat" by The Go-Gos, but still used the other song elsewhere in the film.
