Made at a time that the Disney Studios were having financial problems, having had a string of box office losses. It was against this background that the studio started taking some real risks, with films like this, the real life thriller Fuga nella notte (1982) and the horror movie Gli occhi del parco (1980). Ultimately none of these films helped the studio's finances but it did pave the way for the creation of Touchstone Pictures two years later which was tasked with being the adult arm of the company and which had an enormous hit with their very first release, Splash - Una sirena a Manhattan (1984).
