Patrick Troughton became tired with the heavy production schedule, which was a factor in his decision to leave. According to Terrance Dicks, the script situation towards the end of the Troughton era was chaotic as well under Peter Bryant and Derrick Sherwin. When Dicks became sole script editor, with Barry Letts as producer, he made it a priority to sort out the script situation and make it more efficient.
