Production on season 2 began on September 3, 2020, but Javicia Leslie's first day began a day later. In a welcome back video with Nicole Kang and Camrus Johnson, Johnson reassured fans, "We're safe, we're distanced, people are wearing masks, everything's fine!". However, production shut down on September 30 due to delays in processing COVID-19 tests in British Columbia, though the stoppage is assumed to be temporary. On October 7, 2020, production was allowed to resume.
