Christopher Nolan, co-writer and producer of Man of Steel, considered directing the film, but after The Dark Knight Rises (2012), he didn't feel like directing another superhero film. He called Zack Snyder and said he was impressed by Watchmen (2009) and offered him the directing job, for which he accepted.
