There are several people from the Doctor Who Universe in this series. Jenna Coleman played Clara in Doctor Who (2005); Tommy Knight played Luke Smith in the spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007), as well as a two-part episode in season four of Doctor Who (2005); Eve Myles played Gwen Cooper on the spin-off series Torchwood (2006), as well as the same two-part episode of Doctor Who (2005) as Tommy Knight. Eve also had a part in the first season of Doctor Who (2005) as Gwenth, a possible ancestor of Gwen Cooper as alluded to in the aforementioned two-part episode. Adrian Schiller, who played Mr. Penge, also guest-starred on an episode of Doctor Who (2005).
