Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader met while filming the movie Ultima occasione (1985) and went on to appear in other films together, including Al di là di tutti i limiti (1987). They became very close friends and then didn't see each other for 20 years. When asked about working together again on this film after so much time, Spader said it was one of the great pleasures of working on the film; to be able to spend time together. "It was just divine."
