Some fans theorized on-line that Richard E. Grant would be portraying Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars: Rebels (2014), given his facial resemblance to the character. Grant denied this in an interview, and Thrawn does not appear in the movie. Leaked concept art of Grant dressed in First Order attire confirmed that he plays a character called General Pryde, one of the officers of the former Empire. The Mandalorian director Dave Filoni is going to bring Thrawn to live action at some point, but details are unknown.
