Since their debut in 1988 depicted in the film, Jamaica has competed in at least one bobsled event in every Winter Olympics except Turin in 2006 and Vancouver in 2010. In Beijing in 2022, Jamaica qualified for the 4-man event for the first time since Nagano in 1998, and Leon (Derice) surprised the team including by revealing he was wearing a Jamaican bobsled team suit on Kevin Hart's Winter Olympics Tailgate Party (2022) on Peacock (NBC).
