In both Roald Dahl's book and the 1971 film, Charlie is a blonde child and Violet Beauregarde is a brunette. In this adaptation, both characters swapped hair colors with Charlie sporting a brown, bowl haircut and Violet sporting a blonde, A-line bobbed haircut.
