Sam and Tara are the first pair of siblings, along with Mindy and Chad, to successfully survive a Scream film. Every other sibling dynamic introduced to the series featured the death of one or both siblings. Maureen Prescott, the sister of Kate Roberts, died prior to the events of the first film while Kate herself died in Scream 4 (2011). Randy Meeks, the brother of Martha Meeks, dies in Scream 2 (1997), and Tatum Riley, Dewey's younger sister, dies in the first film while Dewey himself is killed in this one. Furthermore, including the killers, Stu Macher, the brother of the (to date) unseen Leslie Macher, dies in the first film and Roman Bridger, Sidney's half-brother, dies in Scream 3 (2000).
