The popularity of the character Kookie, played by Edd Byrnes, led to the recording of a 1959 record album by Byrnes titled "Kookie Star of '77 Sunset Strip'". The top single on the album was performed by Byrnes and Connie Stevens, who was then appearing in this show's sister series Hawaiian Eye (1959), and was titled "Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb", playing off of Kookie's habitual combing of his hair on the program. This single reached Number 4 on the popular charts.
