The lines said by some of the heroes are references to what happened to the creators of Arrow (2012):"I started this alone, and had every intention of keeping it that way", a nod to the producers who had no intention whatsoever for Arrow to have spin-offs."I had a plan, life had a different one", the creators never intended to create spin-offs, but the fan demand and ratings pushed into doing so."Then things just got stranger", the producers never wanted for superpowers to be a part of their universe, but it started making references to them starting with Barry Allen's appearance in Arrow: The Scientist (2013)."But the truth is, sometimes we're not enough, sometimes, the world needs a team", a line spoken by Barry/The Flash, referencing The Flash: Flash vs. Arrow (2014)/Arrow: The Brave and the Bold (2014) crossovers, where characters from both The Flash and Arrow have to team up in each others series to take down enemies they can't beat on their own.
