Éowyn is similar to Mulan from Disney's Mulan (1998). Both women entered a war by disguising themselves as men. They bravely fought against and killed an evil character (the Witch-king of Angmar in Éowyn's case; Shan Yu in Mulan's case). They are accompanied by a comical, if plucky male character (Mushu the Dragon in Mulan's case; Merry the hobbit in Éowyn's case), and at the end, they fall in love with a noble Army Captain (Captain Faramir in Éowyn's case; Captain Li in Mulan's case).
