The novelization by Gordon McGill reveals that the scene in which Emmett Fitz-Hume hosts a brief press conference was originally placed immediately after his introductory scene in his office and before his 'lunch date' with Alice. His colleague sitting at the opposite desk, Walter Jurgens, was scheduled to host the conference, but Fitz-Hume took over to do him a favor. This explains why the film Il collegio si diverte (1952), which, Fitz-Hume was watching in the earlier scene, can still be seen playing on one of the monitors during the press conference. He also mentions having a lunch date, indicating that the scene takes place before the one with Alice.
