The rights to the film were acquired by Warner Bros. in 1953, who released a remake in 1954, and two more in later years. Although it was a pre-1950 film in the Warner Bros. library, it was not included in the package of films sold to Associated Artists Productions (a.a.p.) in 1956, a company which ironically merged with the film's original distributor, United Artists, in 1958. Warner failed to renew the copyright in time, and it has been in the public domain since January 1, 1966.
