Jessie's Yanmega was the third Pokémon to evolve in the same episode it was captured, after Ash's Caterpie in Pokémon: Ash Catches a Pokémon! (1997) and Mankey in Pokémon: Don't Get Angry, Okorizaru! (1997) (though in Mankey's case, it evolved prior to being captured, whereas Yanma and Caterpie evolved after their capture). Because Ash's Metapod did not further evolve into Butterfree until midway through the next episode, Yanma reached its final form the fastest of all Pokémon belonging to the main characters.
