When selecting a director, Norm MacDonald first wanted co-writer Frank Sebastiano to direct "Dirty Work". He knew the script better than anybody and had studied film at NYU. But the biggest reason Norm wanted Frank was that Norm already knew him. Meaning, he really hated meeting a new guy, then having to remember his name, pretend to listen to him talk about his personal life, fake laugh at his jokes, etc.
