The cast and crew featured veterans of several Stephen King adaptations. Jack Nicholson appeared in Shining (1980). Kiefer Sutherland appeared in Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986). Rob Reiner directed Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986) and Misery non deve morire (1990), and had offered Nicholson the lead role in the latter film. The late J.T. Walsh appeared in Cose preziose (1993), and had a small, uncredited cameo in Misery (1990).
