The series' art direction and character design was heavily inspired by Batman (1992), which Sunrise animated eight episodes of. Some of the characters are very similar to the iconic Batman characters, with Roger being based on Bruce Wayne, Norman is based on Alfred Pennyworth, and Dan Dastun is a tad similar to Commissioner Gordon.
