Kong shoving his axe hilt into Godzilla's mouth may come off as a hilarious callback to the 1962 film. Less hilarious, however, when you remember the axe is made of the bones of Godzilla's ancestors: this would have been a gravely disrespectful insult against Godzilla and it's understandable he's so angry.
