Although Static's co-creator Dwayne McDuffie stressed that the TV series remain loyal to "the spirit and the tone" of the comics, some changes were done because of its time slot and target audience of pre-teens. For example, guns appeared less frequently, Virgil is also younger in the series, and his costume and use of his powers are different than the original comics.
