9 functional ships were made for the show: Ragnar's ship, Floki's ship, a Frankish warship, 2 Rus-ships, Oleg's flagship and 3 generic viking ships that could be used for various purposes. Ragnar's and Floki's ships had two versions of each made: two functional ships that two were made for gimbals to shoot scenes on the open sea.
