This show, along with other Netflix series Jessica Jones (2015), Luke Cage (2016), and Iron Fist (2017), exist in the same continuity with one another and within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All four Marvel Netflix series feature street-level heroes and were all pitched to Netflix at the same time with the intent to unite these street-level heroes in The Defenders (2017). After the crossover mini-series, fifth series The Punisher (2017) was green lit by Netflix starring the character of the same name that appeared in Season 2 of this series.
