The comics young Elvis is reading are of Captain Marvel Junior (Freddy Freeman). This was Elvis's favorite superhero; he had a collection of Captain Marvel Junior comics, and often styled his wardrobe and hair on him. Originally back then during Elvis' childhood, Captain Marvel was published by Fawcett Comics before being bought by DC and published by them, to which the title character was renamed as Shazam in 2011 due to legal issues regarding this name with Marvel Comics. Notably both this film and Shazam! (2019) were both distributed by Warner Bros., who also notably is the as of this date the main distributor for the DC Comics films.
